Rena’s Promise Writing Camp on Shelter Island 2

It’s the last day of the 2014 camp. Can’t believe how fast it has gone. We had a great group of 12 students, whose energy and enthusiasm is infectious and restores one’s faith in the writing life. the location was perfect as ever: we all live together in a huge house on Shelter Island, man of the classes are held outdoors, in the afternoon there are excursions to go swimming or kayaking. We’ll be sad to leave …

Thank you so much for all you did for Sofia. She had an amazing time at the camp and could not stop talking about her time with you and the other instructors. What an extraordinary experience she has had! I cannot wait to review all of the work that she compiled over the course of the week. I do hope that she will be able to return to Rena’s Promise next year.

Thanks for getting in touch. Sofia was a delight to work with: funny, bubbly, full of life and wisdom far beyond her years. She has a tendency to overwrite ( and swallow the Thesaurus!) but by the end of the week I felt she had taken giant strides in finding a voice that was authentically her own, we would love to welcome her back next year! All best, Simon. PS the shelter island reporter, the local paper, would like to do an interview with Sofia and the others who did the police ride-along. What’s the best number to give them?
